Preparing for Pandemic Influenza

The Life Insurance Council of New York (LICONY) represents many of the
largest life insurance companies in the world. To help prepare it's members for
the possible threat of avian influenza, it has invited an expert panel of
speakers for a two hour presentation on Preparing for Pandemic Influenza.
Over 225 senior life insurance executives were in attendance, representing
over 60 of the largest life insurance companies. The featured speakers included
Christopher Spence, President of Future Health Solutions, Dr. Christopher Davis
M.D., Ph.D., Chief Scientist for CUBRC and Susan Varisco, Director of Disaster
Planning for The Arkin Group.
Also in attendance was the Commission of Insurance for the state of New
York, and over 30 staff members. Senior insurance department staff expect to
utilize information learned during the presentation to help prepare the
insurance department for both the health and life insurance, as well as to work
with insurance companies for their preparation efforts.
